Join the momentum. We are seeking a Senior Manager for our growing team, specifically for our Technology Niche! Our Technology niche focus is growing with the region's technology ecosystem in Waterloo and Southwest Ontario. This position is for candidates who are looking to take on a leadership role within our office and build their career with the Technology community. This role is also ideal for someone who is looking for a future partnership position within the firm. RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Performance Expectations

  • Lead client-facing team on assurance work, audits, compliance tax engagements, budgeting, internal controls, financial and accounting transactions, etc. 
  • Build / enhance our Technology Niche focused group with connections and relationships in the SWO technology marketplace
  • Coordinate our Technology Niche team members which include Assurance, Tax, SR&ED, and Advisory cross-functional areas
  • Deliver expert industry and technical expertise in audit and assurance through client interactions, written reports, technical work, management presentations and the creation of high quality deliverables
  • Apply knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE). International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) knowledge is considered an asset
  • Verify and test financial statesments and supporting disclosures
  • Simultaneously manage three to four engagements
  • Lead engagements, identify and analyze client needs and provide clients with comprehensive solutions and advice
  • Develop connections and relationships within the technology community
  • Prepare and deliver competitive audit proposals
  • Identify and analyze client needs and provide clients with comprehensive solutions and advice
  • Design, develop and deliver final reports and/or presentations to client
  • Coach and engage project team ensuring an understanding of project parameters, overall plan, time commitment and expectations
  • Utilize team appropriately to ensure proper documentation is prepared for the client and procedures relating to the file are followed accordingly
  • Develop, coach and train team members towards professional and personal development
  • Conduct formal, written annual performance reviews
  • Promote regular attendance, balanced lifestyle and high standard of team wellness
  • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop accounting and assurance knowledge

 Credentials     

  • Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent
  • Minimum seven (7) to eight (8) years of relevant work experience in public accounting, ideally working with Technology clients
  • Experience working with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Knowledge of items that are of concern to Technology clients including: typical assurance-related items (Accounting for SAAS, stock options, etc.), government grants, SR&ED, fundraising, etc.
  • Experience in the design of engagement procedures based on risk and materiality
  • Solid understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
  • Some travel may be required
