Join the momentum. We are currently seeking an Accounting Technician for our growing Assurance and Accounting team. Our Assurance and Accounting team is committed to providing meaningful and reliable financial information that ensures our clients are always well protected and positioned.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Performance Expectations

  • Work with the Accounting team to execute full cycle bookkeeping for MNP clients
  • Prepare and maintain payroll and related government remittances/filings, recording of sales, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable and payroll transactions as well as WCB
  • Preparation of T4s, T5s and ROEs
  • Perform the month-end and quarter-end close process timely and accurately
  • Maintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts, including but not limited to cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable and accrued liabilities
  • Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, discuss with manager or engagement partner and develop resolutions to resolve issues and errors
  • Communicate with government regarding information requests, assessments and installments
  • Work with accounting software and provide support to clients
  • Develop and maintain relationships with client management
  • Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work 

Credentials

  • The successful candidate must have a minimum of 2 to 5 years of full cycle bookkeeping experience
  • Must be very proficient in Excel and have an excellent working knowledge of accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Profile, QuickBooks and Simply Accounting
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in preparing T4’s is preferred
  • Understanding of payroll, bookkeeping and record keeping practices on a manual and computerized system(s)
  • Must be an articulate detailed self-starter who can relate well to a broad range of people, take direction well and can work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to administer and understand full cycle accounting in an ever changing fast paced environment is critical
  • Consideration will be given to applicants with education/certification in accounting and business as well as those with 2+ years of directly related experience
