Join the momentum. We are seeking an Associate for our growing Forensics team. Protecting businesses’ best interests, MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business consulting firm in Canada. Our recognized Forensics team combines accounting and investigative expertise to resolve fraud emergencies. Our professionals conduct assessments that gauge an organization’s vulnerability to fraud and help implement anti-fraud controls to reduce exposure to criminal and civil wrongdoing.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Performance Expectations

  • Assist in the investigation, quantification, and resolution of disputes and allegations with a wide variety of clients and industries, including: fraud and conflict of interest investigations, contract disputes and economic loss quantification, insurance claims, family law and estate matters, and disputes
  • Assist with the delivery of proactive services for clients in the areas of anti-money laundering, anti-corruption, and fraud risk management
  • Liaise with clients and their legal counsel
  • Participate in the development of independent detailed expert financial reports
  • Carry out reports of highly detailed, meticulous engagements and contribute to deliverables
  • Assist in the execution of investigative plans on sensitive litigious matters and objectively analyze complex financial matters
  • Analyze financial documents such as financial statements, corporate and personal income tax returns, accounting books and records, bank statements, cheques, deposit books, sales, expenses, inventory costs, productions data, etc.
  • Examine documents, conduct in-depth research, obtain financial and market statistics and lead Forensic engagements such as contract disputes, asset misappropriation and conflicts of interest
  • Participate in investigative interviews
  • Support the design, development, formatting and proof reading of high quality professional reports, proposals and correspondence
  • Coordinate project logistics with clients and other stakeholders consistent with project plans
  • Stay up-to-date on existing and forthcoming legislation and legal decisions
  • Support the delivery of high quality client service to ensure client needs are responded to in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
  • Collaborate with client engagement team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas, materiality, and deadlines
  • Monitor project timelines against targets, adjust where necessary; advise clients of project status and seek clarification on discrepancies where applicable
  • Promote MNP advisory services through contribution to the delivery of presentations, writing articles, facilitating workshops, or participating in community activities
  • Maintain regular attendance, balanced lifestyle, and high standard of wellness
  • Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses, and industry
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
  • Raise awareness of MNP at community events
  • Attend external and internal MNP courses to further develop your forensic accounting knowledge

Credentials

  • Completion of Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Completion of the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) designation or a plan to obtain the designations within two (2) years of joining the practice
  • Understanding of businesses operating in different industries Ability to meet time budgets and timelines
  • Ability to achieve Enhanced Reliability level Government of Canada security screening
  • Experience in business and practice development is considered an asset
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Some travel will be required
