Join the momentum. We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant for our growing Assurance and Accounting team. Delivering quality in everything we do, MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business consulting firm in Canada. Our Assurance and Accounting team is committed to providing meaningful and reliable financial information that ensures our clients are always well protected and positioned.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

Performance Expectations

  • Able to understand and interpret financial statements and corresponding notes
  • Investigate and correct discrepancies/ irregularities in financial entries, documents and reports
  • Respond to client questions and queries
  • Update manager or engagement partner on the progress of engagements
  • Vouch and assess appropriateness of audit evidence
  • Clearly document evidence from testing and conclusions made
  • Prepare professional correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining findings, facts and highlights resulting from the client engagement
  • Oversee and coordinate the Third Party Evaluation processes under the terms of the SINP program
  • Coordinate and participate in the delivery of due diligence services and prepare quality evaluation reports
  • Manage the flow of files throughout the due diligence process including the coordination of team members from other offices
  • Manage a high performance team of professionals dedicated to project outcomes
  • Assist with the development of procedures, communications, retainers and contracts to effectively manage project risk
  • Maintain regular and continued relationships with key individuals within major consulting firms and the provincial government
  • Direct and monitor the activities of team members including coordinating workloads, setting goals, evaluating performance, coaching and mentoring

Credentials

  • Completion of a professional accounting designation or educational equivalent
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of relevant business work experience in Project Management and accounting
  • Solid understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Profile, Quickbooks and Simply Accounting
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Have strong financial and analytical capabilities
  • Have exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Have the ability to work independently
  • Be familiar with due diligence and forensic procedures
  • Have a strong financial background with the ability to understand and analyze business financial statements
  • Be fully bilingual in both English, Mandarin and Cantonese (oral, reading, writing/typing)
  • Working knowledge of Chinese culture and Chinese documents
