Join the momentum. We are seeking a Manager for our growing Insolvency team. There is option for this postion to work out of the London, Burlington or Kitchener-Waterloo offices. Committed to helping all stakeholders through financial challenges, MNP Limited is one of the largest insolvency practices in Canada. For more than 50 years, our experienced team of Government-Licensed Insolvency Trustees and advisors have been working collaboratively with lenders and debtors at all levels to help protect their interests.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Performance Expectations

  • Responsible for the delivery of corporate insolvency services such as addressing the key strategic, operational and financial trouble spots of a business to rapidly diagnose any problem, identifying immediate stabilizing activities, providing operational and performance improvement advice, and addressing debt-structuring and refinancing, or recovery needs
  • Execute formal and informal restructurings, which may involve taking possession of assets, operating insolvent entities and dealing with stakeholders through periods of crisis
  • Administer formal insolvency appointments including bankruptcies, proposals and receiverships
  • Conduct company and industry research and business analysis including financial viability assessments and security evaluations
  • Lead data analysis, review of accounting records, and the development of financial models to help in identifying issues, defining symptoms, and recommending solutions
  • Develop relationships with special loan financiers, insolvency lawyers and client executives
  • Prepare Statement of Affairs documents, 170 Reports, Certificate of Discharge, Trustee’s Supplementary Report to Court, Pre and Post Bankruptcy Tax Returns and Final Statement of Receipts and Disbursements
  • Responsible for ensuring required documents get e-filed in a timely manner with the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy (OSB)
  • Accountable for project financials (budgets, WIPS, timely billing, collection, variance recognition)
  • Execute transactions through the provision of client services including planning, budgeting, scheduling and coordinating engagements
  • Think strategically about client needs by understanding the business/risks; confer with Partners on large and high risk files regarding course of action and whether to accept engagements
  • Identify ways to maximize the relationship with clients and deliver added value
  • Maintain high quality control by reviewing work done from other team members for accuracy and completeness; provide feedback to team members
  • Monitor project timelines against targets, adjust where necessary; advise clients of project status and seek clarification on discrepancies where applicable
  • Leverage team appropriately to ensure proper documentation is prepared for the client and procedures relating to the file are followed accordingly
  • Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry
  • Network and take a leadership role in the local professional, business, and community while raising awareness of MNP and looking for new business development opportunities
  • Promote MNP insolvency and advisory services through the delivery of presentations, writing articles, facilitating workshops or participating in community activities
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
  • Develop, coach, and train team members towards professional and personal development
  • Conduct formal, written annual performance reviews
  • Promote regular attendance, balanced lifestyle and high standard of team wellness
  • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop knowledge around performance improvement

Credentials

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in a relevant field
  • Completion (or progress towards the completion) of the Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP) designation and Licensed Insolvency Trustee license
  • Completion of the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is considered an asset
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience working in professional services, particularly corporate insolvency and complex restructuring engagements
  • Extensive knowledge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act
  • Experience in business and practice development
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Some travel may be required
