    Join the momentum. We are seeking an Assistant Estate Manager for our growing Consumer Insolvency team. Committed to helping all stakeholders through financial challenges, MNP Limited is one of the largest insolvency practices in Canada. For more than 50 years, our experienced team of Government-Licensed Insolvency Trustees and advisors have been working collaboratively with lenders and debtors at all levels to help protect their interests.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

    Performance Expectations

     

    Technical Expertise

    • Process transactions, compile information and prepare final fee and disbursement calculation worksheet for presentation on Trustee’s final statement of receipts and disbursements
    • Review proof of claims and update claims register
    • Prepare and distribute final documentation, billings, dividends, statements and other distributions for Trustee application for discharge
    • Ensure file is properly closed and transferred after trust account is cleared
    • File documentation such as correspondence, invoices, deposits and statements for each trust bank account
    • Prepare documentation relevant to the file including bankruptcy/consumer proposal documents and creditor documentation such as Notice of Bankruptcy, Notice of Disallowance and E-file documentation
    • Review and verify accuracy of information received from debtors and creditors
    • Manage insolvency files including the input of information for new client files into the client database and preparation of documents for sign up
    • Prepare and make revisions to the required documentation for the filing of bankruptcies and consumer proposals
    • Format documents utilized for client files throughout filing process and input into Ascend database
    • Liaise with firm technical support to address issues with database software and file licenses
    • Confirm values of assets either through online resources or via auctioneer
    • Apply the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) to client specific needs and assist in planning the course of action to manage and resolve the consumer debt

    Client Service Excellence

    • Advise consumer debtors and identify possible solutions to manage and resolve their debt
    • Conduct follow-up calls and correspondence to clients who are in areas with payments
    • Ensure client information is routed to the correct internal department in an accurate and timely fashion
    • Record asset realization, tax refunds and monthly payments received from the client
    • Monitor clients’ monthly voluntary payments
    • Liaise with various creditors including conduction negotiations and requesting and providing information

    Practice Management

    • Follow correct procedures for realization and release of assets
    • Conduct file review at predetermined milestones
    • Ensure a consistent approach and compliance with policies and legislation as they relate to insolvency
    • Complete reports relating to review of proposal acceptance or rejection by creditors
    • Follow-up with creditors regarding submitted paperwork or file particulars

    Business Development

    • Attend professional development courses, seminars, workshops and meetings on a regular basis
    • Identify and initiate relevant courses for self-development
    • Take initiative to share learning experiences and new acquired knowledge with team members

    Credentials

    • Post-secondary diploma or degree; post-secondary education in a related field is an asset
    • Two to five years of professional work experience
    • Experience in a professional services industry is an asset
    • Intermediate proficiency with Word and Excel and experience with Insolvency management software
    • Understanding the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) or equivalent work experience in the legal or financial industries
    • Completion of Insolvency administration courses and/or working towards becoming a counsellor under the BIA
