    Join the momentum. We are seeking a Trustee for our growing Insolvency team, in our Moncton office. Committed to helping all stakeholders through financial challenges, MNP Limited is one of the largest insolvency practices in Canada. For more than 50 years, our experienced team of Government-Licensed Insolvency Trustees and advisors have been working collaboratively with lenders and debtors at all levels to help protect their interests.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

    Performance Expectations

    • Responsible for the delivery of consumer insolvency services
    • Act as Licensed Insolvency Trustee for consumer practice files including bankruptcies, proposals and receiverships
    • Conduct meetings with debtors on complex engagements
    • Assist in building the Insolvency practice and market share; promote and generate new engagements
    • Execute formal and informal restructurings, which may involve taking possession of assets, operating insolvent entities and dealing with stakeholders through periods of crisis
    • Deliver advice corresponding to bankruptcy laws and practices
    • Advise lenders, creditors or shareholders through financial reviews, business turnarounds, bankruptcies, and liquidations
    • Lead data analysis, review of financial records, and the development of financial models to help in identifying issues, defining symptoms, and recommending solutions
    • Develop relationships with current and future referral sources including credit counsellors, debt counsellors, lawyers, accountants and other potential referral sources
    • Prepare and review all relevant BIA documentation including Statement of Affairs, 170 Reports, Court Orders and Affidavits, Certificate of Discharge, Trustee’s Supplementary Report to Court, Pre and Post Bankruptcy Tax Returns and Final Statement of Receipts and Disbursements
    • Responsible for ensuring required documents get e-filed in a timely manner with the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy (OSB)
    • Accountable for project financials (budgets, WIP, timely billing, collection, variance recognition)
    • Plan, budget, schedule and coordinate engagements
    • Think strategically about debtor needs by understanding the risks; confer with Partners on large and high-risk files regarding course of action and whether to accept engagements
    • Identify ways to maximize the relationship with clients and deliver added value
    • Maintain high quality control by reviewing work done from other team members for accuracy and completeness; provide feedback to team members
    • Monitor project timelines against targets, adjust where necessary; advise Partners of project status and seek clarification on discrepancies where applicable
    • Leverage team appropriately to ensure proper documentation is prepared for the debtor and procedures relating to the file are followed accordingly
    • Promote MNP insolvency and advisory services through the delivery of presentations, writing articles, facilitating workshops or participating in community activities
    • Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry
    • Raise awareness of MNP through discussions at community events including client and company sponsored functions
    • Network in the local business community and consider business development opportunities
    • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches in order to improve work processes
    • Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback and addressing performance issues promptly
    • Promote regular attendance, balanced lifestyle and high standard of team wellness
    • Conduct formal, written annual performance reviews

    Credentials

    • Possess a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional and Licensed Insolvency Trustee designation
    • Registered Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) Counsellor (have completed Counselling Course and Administrator Course), Commissioner for Oaths
    • Minimum five (5) years of experience in insolvency
    • Experience in the legal or financial industries is considered an asset; particularly experience consulting with potential insolvents
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and experience with Ascend software
    • Willing and able to travel
