    Join the momentum. We are seeking an Associate for our growing Investigative and Forensics team. Protecting businesses’ best interests, MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business consulting firm in Canada. Our recognized Forensics team combines accounting and investigative expertise to resolve fraud emergencies and support clients through complex litigation. Our professionals conduct assessments that gauge an organization’s vulnerability to fraud and help implement anti-fraud controls to reduce exposure to criminal and civil wrongdoing.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

    Performance Expectations

    • Assist in the execution of client engagements primarily on the matters of fraud investigations, litigation support and expert witness engagements
    • Assist in the development and execution of investigative plans on sensitive litigation matters and objectively analyze complex financial matters including:
         -
      Coordinate project logistics with clients and other stakeholders consistent with project plans
         - Analyze financial data, examine documents, conduct in-depth research and lead Forensic engagements such as contract disputes, asset misappropriation and conflicts of interest
         - Engage in forensic accounting and investigations through specific engagements including calculations required in economic loss claims, loss quantification, dispute resolution and risk management

    • Participate in the development of independent detailed expert financial reports, including the preparation of memoranda, conducting research, document examination and constructing financial models
    • Carry out meticulous engagements and contribute to deliverables by supporting the design, development, formatting and proof reading of high quality professional reports, proposals and correspondence
    • Adopt and learn the use of new technology and software programs specific to analysis and forensics
    • Support the delivery of high quality client service to ensure client needs are responded to in a timely, accurate and professional manner, including:
         - Monitor project timelines against targets, adjust where necessary, advise clients of project status and seek clarification on discrepancies where applicable
    • Develop a thorough understanding of MNPs services, businesses and industry
    • Network and take a leadership role in the local professional, business, and community while raising awareness of MNP and looking for new business development opportunities
    • Promote MNP advisory services through the delivery of presentations, writing articles, facilitating workshops or participating in community activities
    • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
    • Demonstrate regular work attendance, balanced lifestyle and high standard of team wellness
    • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop knowledge around performance improvement

    Credentials

    • Possess a Bachelors Degree in accounting
    • One (1) to three (3) years post Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or another Canadian accounting designation with relevant experience
    • Three (3) to five (5) years experience in public accounting; experience in advisory or consulting is considered an asset
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, obtain, analyze and consolidate information from various sources
    • Ability to work in high conflict and emotionally strained scenarios
    • Ability to achieve Enhanced Reliability Level Government of Canada security screening
    • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Some travel may be required
