    Join the momentum. We are seeking a Manager for our growing Assurance and Accounting - Real Estate and Construction team. Building a stronger foundation for real estate and construction companies, MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business consulting firm for the real estate and construction sector. Our specialists are actively involved with boards, committees and government organizations to stay on top of changing industry forces and emerging trends. We provide clients with insight and solutions related to the preeminent challenges real estate and construction businesses face, as well as guidance to help our clients make informed decisions that will put their company ahead of the competition.



    Performance Expectations

    • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the privately held business sectors through interactions with clients, key business leaders in the community and fellow colleagues
    • Prepare professional correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining findings, facts and highlights resulting from the client engagement
    • Execute transactions through the provision of client services including planning, budgeting, scheduling and coordinating engagements, including but not limited to audit, review, and/or compilation of financial statements and related tax compliance works
    • Review, investigate and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries and reports
    • Collaborate with client engagement team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas, materiality and deadlines
    • Develop ability to ensure clients and targets have the information they need to make decisions
    • Develop ability to provide alternatives to client or target and effectively explain how each alternative can address their needs and how the engagement will be affected
    • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
    • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop accounting and assurance knowledge
    • Proactively seek and/or volunteer for additional assignments, responsibilities, etc.
    • Contribute ideas and solutions to assist with the development and/or implementation of change
    • Recognize different personality and communication styles and adjust approach accordingly
    • Convey messages in a clear and concise manner to small and/or medium audiences
    • Develop ability to manage questions within a presentation to help audience clearly understand perspective
    • Manage team compliance with MNP values and code of conduct including confidentiality, integrity, honesty and ethical behavior
    • Accept accountability for overall engagement completions and ensure all deadlines are communicated and met
    • Maintain high quality control by reviewing work done from other team members for accuracy and completeness; provide feedback to team members
    • Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry
    • Achieve appropriate turnaround on engagements
    • Complete assigned engagements within budget/parameters
    • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and engagement budgets in accordance with WIP policy
    • Effectively manage engagements to achieve target realization
    • Adhere to quality assurance and risk management practices when seeking improvements in engagements and/or methodologies
    • Respond to client requests, issues and concerns in a professional and timely manner, seeking guidance when necessary
    • Develop ability to understand unique features of clients’ business/industry
    • Maintain technical competence by continuing to participate in professional education programs and training sessions
    • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and application of MNP standards for engagement performance
    • Review others’ work for accuracy and completeness
    • Apply professional judgement when making non-routine decisions and seek guidance where appropriate


    • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience post CPA designation; preference will be given to those who have experience working with privately held business within a public accounting services firm
    • Previous accounting work with Real Estate and Construction clients will be considered an asset
    • Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting and tax software such as CaseWare, TaxCycle, Tax prep, QuickBooks and Simply Sage Accounting is beneficial
    • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook
    • Extensive knowledge of and experience working with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) with a strong working knowledge of corporate and personal income taxes
    • Some travel may be required
