    Join the momentum. We are seeking an Accounting Technician for our growing Tax team. Providing the highest level of excellence, MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business consulting firm in Canada. Our Tax team works with individuals and organizations in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, providing comprehensive strategies that minimize risk, meet tax compliance and reporting requirements, reduce costs and maximize returns.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

    Performance Expectations

    • Prepare excel spreadsheets to summarize financial and project information for input into corporate tax returns.
    • Coordinate and manage multiple ongoing projects while working with a cross-functional team
    • Plan, organize and execute engagements on time and on budget, with an attention to detail and preparation of files without mistakes
    • Communicate with clients and government agencies to address client tax compliance issues, follow up on claims filed, and respond to requests for information
    • Liaise and correspond professionally with clients and colleagues
    • Detail oriented - Ability to follow instructions and established processes
    • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes while effectively using MNP internal programs, systems, and specific department processes
    • Learn and apply knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act, related legislation, and SR&ED Tax Policy as needed
    • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop accounting taxation knowledge
    • Support multiple managers / partners with: review and manage upcoming deadlines and work requirements with team; manage the flow of work to the team / clients such as documents for review/signature, invoicing and A/R, RFP responses, support new template development, assist in the creation of presentations, record minutes at meetings, e-filing tax returns with CRA
    • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
    • Coordinate and schedule internal and external meetings, appointments

    Credentials

    • Completed post-secondary education program with an Accounting or Business focus
    • Previous accounting related office experience (CPA, CGA or CPA, CMA, Bookkeeping, etc.) including bookkeeping, preparation of financial statements / corporate tax returns is an asset
    • Experience with Accounting and Tax software is an asset: CaseWare, Profile, Tax Cycle, TaxPrep
    • Strong computer literacy including advanced working skills of Excel and Excel templates (formulas, pivot tables etc.), Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
    • Experience providing excellent client service is desirable
    • Genuine motivation to help clients
    • Positive attitude, and willingness to learn / grow in the position
    • Ability to work within an hour budget, and achieve deadlines
    • Good written and verbal communication to interface with clients
    • Ability to research, assemble arguments, and communicate effectively through the written word
    • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a professional staff team
    • Proven track record in maintaining client business
