    Join the momentum. We are currently seeking a Senior Manager for our growing Public Company Quality Control Group. Driving business excellence, MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business consulting firm in Canada. Our Public Company Quality Control Group works internally to support and oversee the day to day quality control of our firm’s Public Companies team. We are primarily responsible for Engagement Quality Control Reviews (EQCRs), but lead other public company initiatives, such as training and policy implementation, in order to mitigate risk, improve performance and operate more efficiently.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

    Performance Expectations

    • Reporting to the Public Companies leadership team, lead Engagement Quality Control Reviews (EQCRs) for Public Company files
    • Liaise with our Assurance Professional Standards Group (APSG) to ensure our Public Companies team operates with the utmost quality and effectiveness
    • Deliver industry and technical expertise in audit and compliance through reports, technical work and presentations
    • Play an integral role in driving our quality initiatives and support the development and maintenance of the firm’s accounting and auditing protocols
    • Provide advice and practical solutions on complex audit and compliance issues
    • Research and assist with queries under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS)
    • Stay informed of changes in the profession through research and by attending relevant industry events and training/information sessions
    • Develop, maintain and facilitate accounting and assurance related training in MNP’s extensive, in-house education programs
    • Establish and maintain engagement policies, guidelines, procedures and tools
    • Help leverage team appropriately to ensure delivery of resources that are complete, accurate and timely
    • Promote the importance of quality control to partners, managers and staff across the firm
    • Liaise and correspond professionally with colleagues and the firm leadership team
    • Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry
    • Raise awareness of MNP through discussions at community events, including client and company sponsored functions, where practical
    • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
    • Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback and addressing performance issues promptly in addition to conducting formal, written annual performance reviews
    • Promote regular attendance, balanced lifestyle and a high standard of team wellness

    Credentials      

    • Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
    • Minimum seven (7) to eight (8) years of relevant work experience in public accounting
    • Extensive knowledge of and experience working with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
    • Experience in a technical role with accounting firms or regulators
    • Experience in the design of engagement procedures based on risk and materiality
    • Demonstrated ability to organize projects, independently manage different work streams leading to delivery within deadlines
    • Critical thinker with the ability to quickly grasp complex issues and scenarios
    • Minimal travel may be required
