    Join the momentum. We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant for our growing Assurance and Accounting team. Our Assurance and Accounting team is committed to providing meaningful and reliable financial information that ensures our clients are always well protected and positioned.



    Performance Expectations

    • Liaise and correspond professionally with clients, colleagues and the firm leadership team
    • Collaborate with client engagement team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas, materiality and deadlines
    • Analyze client financial reporting for accurate and appropriate recording of revenues and expenses
    • Complete bank and other account reconciliations
    • Conduct compilation, review, bookkeeping and tax engagements
    • Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses, manage multiple files simultaneously
    • Apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE)
    • Prepare financial statements and corresponding notes
    • Prepare personal, trust and corporate tax returns (and other tax compliance slips) ensuring compliance with government standards
    • Prepare year-end tax forms (T4s and T5s)
    • Respond to client questions and queries
    • Work with accounting software and provide support to clients
    • Update manager or engagement partner on the progress of engagements
    • Raise identified client issues that need to be addressed with managers and engagement partners
    • Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry
    • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
    • Raise awareness of MNP at community events
    • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop your accounting and assurance knowledge
    • Some travel may be required


    • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting or Finance major preferred)
    • Completion of CPA designation or completion of CFE examination and working towards relevant practical experience requirements will also be considered
    • Two (2) to four (4) years of relevant accounting experience
    • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE)
    • Strong working knowledge of corporate, trust and personal income taxes
    • Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting and tax software such as Caseware, TaxPrep, Quickbooks and Simply Accounting is preferred
    • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and PDF Software (Adobe or Nuance)
