    Join the momentum. We are currently seeking a Manager, Assurance and Accounting Technology for our growing Assurance Professional Standards Group. Delivering quality in everything we do, MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business consulting firm in Canada. Our Assurance and Accounting team is committed to providing meaningful and reliable financial information that ensures our clients are always well protected and positioned. Specifically, our Assurance Professional Standards Group works internally to support the delivery of assurance services, the development and coordination of assurance training materials and the communication of assurance matters throughout the firm.

     

    This role is the ideal opportunity for an experienced accounting or technology professional who has a keen interest in the impact and implementation of new and emerging technologies in the delivery of assurance and accounting services.  The successful candidate will add value by applying their knowledge of technology to the research and adoption of leading-edge technologies for the firm’s assurance practice.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

    Performance Expectations:

    • Investigate vendors specializing in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and other leading technologies that enhance the delivery of audit and assurance services
    • Investigate new tools to support the assurance practice by participating in calls and meetings with prospective vendors to investigate new technologies and product offerings
    • Work with MNP’s internal Technology team to understand whether integration and scaling limitations exist
    • Elicit, analyze, document and validate business requirements using a variety of tools including research, interviews, document analysis, and process analysis with an understanding of how to derive user stories and features from analysis models
    • Collaborate with members of the Assurance Professional Standards Group to incorporate approved new technologies into MNP assurance methodologies through template updates or the use of supporting tools
    • Develop and facilitate education directly related to new technologies
    • Identify user needs and issues through questioning and listening
    • Work closely with subject matter experts and technical leads to create solutions that best deliver value to stakeholders
    • Facilitate consensus on scope, design, and implementation decisions
    • Draft technical and conceptual reports and correspondence that are clear, succinct, well organized, and relevant to the reader
    • Develop basic knowledge of user’s business and technology needs to facilitate discussions at a peer level
    • Create and maintain formal and informal project management plans, schedules and timelines; coordinate resources and proactively communicate when needed
    • Develop and provide assurance technology guidance, share ideas and provide input on research and analysis
    • Participate in and lead presentations and meetings
    • Contribute to the development of intellectual property within the Assurance Professional Standards Group, including improving methodologies, tools, education and developing new ideas
    • Engage in continuous learning to stay informed of new and emerging technologies in the delivery of accounting and assurance services, through research and by attending relevant industry events and training/information sessions

    Credentials

    • Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent; consideration will also be given to candidates with a technology/computer science degree with prior accounting or finance experience
    • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience
    • Experience developing and implementing business driven technology strategies involving quantitative analysis, solution design and implementation support
    • Knowledge of Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS) preferred
    • Proven depth of technology skills and experience in a wide range of technology topics including strategy, transformation, analytics and data science
    • Solid understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
    • Experience working with accounting, analytic and data visualization software (e.g. CaseWare, IDEA, Power BI)
    • Proven technical writing and project management skills
    • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Some travel may be required
