    Join the momentum. We are seeking a Manager for our growing Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) - Financial Services team. This is a 12-18 month contract with the strong possibility to convert to a permanent position for the right candidate. Our Tax team works with individuals and organizations in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors providing comprehensive strategies that minimize risk, meet tax compliance and reporting requirements, drive efficiencies and maximize returns. Specifically, our SR&ED team consists of industry-leading professionals who have the knowledge and experience to help businesses take full advantage of funding opportunities and the multitude of available provincial incentives.



    Performance Expectations

    • Interface with CFO’s or finance departments at technology / manufacturing companies conducting leading edge Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) activities
    • Manage and mentor a team of junior SR&ED accountants on multiple engagements in various jurisdictions
    • Interface and work with SR&ED technical staff to prepare SR&ED claims
    • Develop and apply knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act and related legislation
    • Manage multiple SR&ED client engagements
    • Plan, deliver, organize and execute engagements on time and on budget
    • Assist clients in identifying, determining eligibility and claiming activities and expenditures under the SR&ED Tax Credit program
    • Gather supporting documentation and evidence of experimentation sufficient to satisfy the requirements of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
    • Advocate for business rights that protect the taxpayer in claiming SR&ED benefits; build arguments and cases to defend those rights
    • Interact with peers, clients, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) representatives supporting & building MNP’s SR&ED practice
    • Present arguments for eligibility in a concise, clearly communicated, written format that is compliant with CRA criteria
    • Effectively defend SR&ED claims upon CRA review
    • Be engaged on the National SR&ED team spanning multiple regions and specialities
    • Network and market MNP SR&ED services to existing and prospective clients
    • Able to travel as required


    • CPA with a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Related Discipline
    • Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience such as: Corporate Income Tax, Financial Accounting, Financial Analysis, Financial Reporting
    • 2 years of SR&ED experience would be an asset
    • Focus on achieving high quality, timely and profitable results
    • Knowledge of, or willingness to be mentored into, understanding how financial service. organizations like MNP operate, market and access relationships for cross service sales and work with non-accounting professionals
    • Additional CPA courses such as “In-depth tax program” are an asset
    • Strong computer literacy including advanced working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and Excel templates (formulas, macros, pivot tables etc…), Outlook, and PowerPoint
    • Genuine motivation in helping client growth in the industry through developing your consulting skills, professional network, alliance development, and client specific technical recommendations
